Hello everyone!
This is Wingsonde ... formerly PhantomLlama
I would love to say a big thank you to the few participants of our first contest! Though many entries were not completed or submitted, we recieved six lovely entries for the Beauty Contest!
So. CheeTree and I have analysed and judged the entries. This is what you have been waiting for!
Are you ready?
No. You're not. Take a breath ... aaannnddd go!

Deviant's Choice

The African King by Kitsumeo The African King by Kitsumeo
Yes, this deviation was not voted for, but the deviant's choice was already chosen as the Runner-up winner by CheeTree and me! And I just love this entry - the beautiful display of the king cheetah's fuzzy, spotted and striped coat is fabulous! And the lighting makes me think of the cheetah waking with the sun to roam the plains.
Wonderful job Kitsumeo!
You win: a character picture with simple background from Killer103!

Beauty has NO limits by FlinSwift Beauty has NO limits by FlinSwift
Voted for as the Deviant's Choice and chosen as the Runner-up, 'Beauty has NO limits' conveys the classic and perfect message that it's what's inside that counts, and that beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Although this group is about the cheetah itself instead of anthro, we never said in the rules that the subject of your entry couldn't be anthro, so we let that one slide this time.
Beautiful work, FlinSwift!
You win: a feature from CheeTree and one traditional character lineart from Myst-Marquee!

First Place

Sun Bathing by SynthesizedConiine Sun Bathing by SynthesizedConiine
'Sun Bathing' received a couple of votes for the Deviant's Choice, but was already chosen as the winner. The amazing detail of the king cheetah's beautiful dog-like paws, the golden fur, its pensive eyes and the prominent stripe (even though it's not really a realistic feature of the cheetah) gave you the prize! And the background is magnificent, the effort you poured into your entry really impressed me.
Stunning job, SynthesizedConiine!
You win: 40 points, a feature from CheeTree, a colored character sketch from Amirah-the-cat and one traditional character lineart from Myst-Marquee!

Winners, please contact the prize donors to receive your rewards!

The warm, summer afternoon atmosphere of this piece nearly made you a winner. One thing you could possibly work on, however, is anatomy and general tidiness of the image. Overall, though, great work, and thank you for entering our contest!

An amazing piece. Your anatomy, the pose used and the application of blue shading gave this piece a calm, cool, relaxed feel. If your image had been coloured, however, then ... wow. I just love how you showed the cheetah's distinct spots, stripes and tear markings! Brilliant job, thanks so much for entering!

Portrait of a Lady by clippercarrillo Portrait of a Lady by clippercarrillo
Ah, clippercarrillo, your photography never ceases to amaze me! Such an elegant shot, and a stunning way to show-off the cheetah's glorious pelt! The thing is, though, she's not a king cheetah, which automatically ruled this deviation out. Our group does support other cheetah mutations and sub-species, but our contest was devoted to the king cheetah. Thank you very much for entering, however, and I can't wait to see more of your work!

Here, have a llama!

King Cheetahs

:bulletred: About the King Cheetah :bulletorange:
Acinonyx jubatus rex
The King Cheetah is an extremely rare, regal, and strikingly beautiful animal. At one time it was considered to be a separate subspecies. Main difference between the King Cheetah and the normal standard spotted Cheetah other than king cheetahs being larger, is that its coat pattern differs distinctively. The standard Cheetah's coat is generally a yellow or golden color with a circular spotted pattern of small black markings. The King Cheetah has spots that run together to form several (usually three) black stripes down its back from the crest of its neck to the tip of the tail. They also sport dark patch shaped markings, irregular in size and shape along their sides and flanks.
There are estimated to be less than ten king cheetahs living in the wild and the total world population is around 60 animals. Most of the ones in captivity were bred at the De Wildt Cheetah Centre in South Africa which has been very successful in raising them.
